Up to 10 participants will take part in the programme. The programme will run from late August/early September 2008 through to May 2009. We will provide you with a series of once in a lifetime opportunities so that you can be inspired, challenged, realise your potential and lift your expectations of yourself higher than you thought possible. Each candidate will be offered a bespoke package of events and activities. The programme will be spread across three areas: LeadershipYou will have tailor made leadership workshops as part of the programme which will be delivered by world class trainers in this field. Throughout the programme you will be exposed to leaders in various arenas: these will include World Leaders; leaders in your area of interest; leading entrepreneurs; key Scottish leaders. InternshipsBased on your preferences, we will tailor an internship to introduce and expose you to word class leaders in your chosen field. These will challenge you: Whether you want to work with Richard Curtis on his latest film/TV production, work with Sir Christopher Evans in his stem cell research lab, or spend time in Gordon Brown's office, we'll find a way to make it happen - or an interesting alternative!! CitizenshipMany global leaders believe that to become a great leader, you need to give something back. We are offering you the chance to work on one of our international projects with the Clinton Hunter Development Initiative in Rwanda or Malawi. The work you will do will again be tailored to your needs. There is a lot to do in both countries to alleviate poverty and build a sustainable economy so there will be plenty of opportunities for you to get involved in and really see your work making a difference. In these countries, we work and live with the locals so this will be a hands-on experience. In addition you will be involved with projects in Scotland. This will either be with one of The Hunter Foundation projects or with a project run by one of our strategic partners. Again, this will be tailored to you. AlumniSuccessful candidates from each year will then form the subsequent alumni of the Young Leaders programme, ensuring ongoing opportunity for personal development and mentoring roles for future Young Leaders. The Hunter Foundation will be responsible for arranging travel. The Hunter Foundation arranges for comprehensive course and travel/medical insurance cover as part of the programme through TL Risk Solutions. This includes cancellation, personal accident, medical expenses, personal belongings, money and personal liability. A summary of the cover will be available at the induction event. The Hunter Foundation will pay for vaccinations you will need before travelling. It is your responsibility to obtain the appropriate medical advice and vaccinations/treatments. You will need to do this in advance to give treatments enough time to be effective when you travel. More detailed information should be available from your GP. We will ask for a letter from your GP to ensure you are capable of participating in the programme. An allowance of £55 per week will be provided for the duration that you participate in the programme. All travel and other reasonable expenses incurred in this period will also be covered. You will take part in a series of once in a lifetime opportunities! These include international travel as well as Scottish and UK work placements. Accommodation will be arranged as necessary. Location shouldn't be a barrier to participating. It is clear from the description of the project that a significant amount of time and investment is involved. Once The Hunter Foundation has selected candidates, a tailored programme is developed. If you pull out before the programme starts, this time, effort and resource is wasted. We are looking for a firm commitment that you will see this through. If unforeseen circumstances require you to withdraw then obviously this is unavoidable.
